Pork Noodle - Subang SS15

In Selangor and KL, you will find a lot of Pork Noodle shop and there are quite a few places that serve good pork noodles. In Subang Jaya SS15, you will find one. The pork noodle shop is just outside of "Restaurant Powmander". Although it's mentioned restaurant, they just sell drinks. All the food comes from outside stall including the Pork Noodle. It's close to the Taylor's College Business building.

I tried to take a close up picture of that stall but the stall owner told me not to because they said they have a lot of people who wants to imitate the ingredient. Oh well....I respect that. Instead of taking a picture of the stall, i just take a picture of the food.

There are option of noodles (mee hoon, mee, kui teow or lou su fan). If you don't like intestines, then you got to tell them, if not they will include it in.If you want to add egg, there will be additional RM1.

Look at that bowl of PORK NOODLE!!! Oink! Oink! I can barely see the noodle. It's covered with all kinds of pork meat (shredded, sliced, intestines, liver and my favourite deep fried pork fat!!). The pork is fresh and the soup is tasty. Most of the guys there will order big when to go to the shop.

Pork Noodle - RM5.50 big, RM4.80small

One bad thing about this place is that you will have to wait 40 minutes during peak hours. Non-peak hours will take about 20 minutes. If you are patient enough, then I recommend you to try.

Yap Chuan Bah Kut Teh - Puchong

It took me about 30 minutes to drive around Puchong to find this restaurant. If my friend were to tell me the direction clearly, I would have reach there much earlier. Malcom.....you cannot be a navigator la. This restaurant is famous for it's dry bah kut teh (Pork Tea) and my parents have not tried it before so I decided to bring them there. The business hour is 9:00am - 9:30pm and I can tell you this restaurant is packed with people all the time.

There were 2 kids inside the kitchen working like a professional. They were so fast cutting and mixing pork with sauce. I heard that these two kids has been working there since young.

As usual my dad brought his own tea to the restaurant. We just have to pay RM1 for the water and facilities. You will normally be given 2 small tea cup each and it's self service to get the fork and spoon.

Chinese Tea

The Dry Bah Kut Teh is really nice. We ordered mix pork. The most important ingredient for the dry bah kut teh is the sauce and I can tell you that they got the sauce mixture spot on. The presentation of the food was not nice but the taste is good.

Dry Bah Kut Teh - RM9.00 per person

Then came the normal wet bah kut teh. We ordered the "sai kuat" (small bone) of the pork. The soup is thick and herbal taste is there. Normally if the pork is not fresh I will know but the pork is fresh and "sweet".

Wet Bah Kut Teh - RM8.00 per person

Our table was covered with meat so we need to even things up by ordering a plate of vegetable. It's a standard vegetable with mixture of oyster sauce and garlic oil. The important thing is that the vegetable is fresh and not yellowish in colour.

"Yao Mak" - RM4 (small)

All I can say is that this restaurant is worth searching. Once you tried it, you will want to go again...or at least I will want to come again

Sambal Sushi - Puchong

This place is for those who wants to go out of the authentic sushi style. Why I said that? Well....I think the name speaks for itself. SAMBAL in SUSHI!!! This is my first time trying this type of sushi so I was a bit nervous. I know sambal goes well with fried rice or nasi lemak but with sushi.....i was a bit reserved but curious.

The restaurant is situated at the ground floor of shop lot but they are renovating the 1st and 2nd floor. Looks like in the future it's going to be 3 floors restaurant....quite big le. The interior design makes the restaurant look cozy. You will see broken walls inside the restaurant that makes you feel like you are at the abandon building. Oh yeah, this place can get a bit chaotic during peak time. The waiters/waitresses will be running all over the place and the sequence of items you order may be strange (e.g. 3 dish out first before the drink comes)

Egg Sambal Maki is the first sushi we tried. The serving is quite big so be careful that you don't order too much. You know what....sambal actually goes quite well with sushi. The sambal is already salty so I recommend you not to dip it with soy sauce and wasabe. It's nice just eat it plain.

Egg Sambal Maki - RM3.80

Another unique sushi is soba inside Inori. They called in Inori Cha Soba. Eerr...don't fancy this dish. The Inori is very salty. I think they pre-dip the Inori with soy sauce because Soba is bland but the problem is that the when you eat it, the Soba and Inori does not jell. You will just taste the soy sauce. If you try this dish, let me know what you think.

Inori Cha Soba - RM3.80

Then comes the Agedashi Tofu. This one is quite standard but I feel that the texture of the Tofu is not silky smooth. It's OK for me.

Agedashi Tofu - RM5.90

Here's comes the main dish, Spicy Ramen. The ramen is fresh and nice but not much ingredients inside the ramen and the chicken is not fresh....am I being too critical here? Furthermore, the soup is a bit plain. Overall.....can la can la...

Spicy Ramen - RM9.90

The Japanese Style of "Lam Rice" (rice in soup), Salmon Ochazuke. I kinda like this dish. The salmon combine with anchovies actually makes this dish tasty.

Salmon Ochazuke - RM4.90

Oh ya....I forgot about the drink. Sorry the picture didn't turn out well so I didn't put it in. I like the drink though, especially the various type of tea like Green Tea with Peach (RM1.50), Green Tea with Passion Fruit (RM1.50) and Azabu Tea (RM1.50). They are refreshing.

Jalan Pudu Night Food Stalls - KL

Malaysia have many road side food stalls open at night. You can get all kinds of food there and it's cheap. Though the place may look a bit dirty but the food can be good. Let me introduce you to a place along Jalan Pudu. It's a small lane call Jalan Sayur off Jalan Pudu. You need to have an eye of an eagle to find this place. Once you reach the Jalan Pudu-Jalan Hang Tuah intersection, turn right (if you are coming from Jalan Hang Tuah). The "Pudu Jail" is on your right. Go straight about 500meter and look at the left hand side for a small lane with many food stalls.

We had two bowls of "Tong Sui". One with just 4 ingredients (RM1.80) and another with 9 ingredients(RM3.80). You can choose your ingredients for the drink. There are barley, "bak guo", "longan", etc...The more ingredient inside the sweeter the drink.

Tong Sui (Food Taste: Rating D)

Chee Cheong Fun is one of the specialty there. There is option of curry or thick sauce to go with the Chee Cheong Fun. Normally people will go for the Curry. If you like "chu pei" (pig skin) then you can ask to add in to the Curry Chee Cheong Fun. The texture of the Chee Cheong Fun is nice. It does not stick on your teeth and not rubbery. The curry looks a bit diluted but when you eat, it does not taste diluted.

Chee Cheong Fun Stall

Curry Chee Cheong Fun - RM1.40 (Food Taste: Rating B)

Another famous stall there is "Char Koay Kak" (Penang Hokkien)/ "Chao Lo Bak Kou" (Cantonese). I had to queue up to take the Char Koay Kak myself. The stall ran out of Koay Kak by 9.15pm on weekends so if you want to eat it, go there earlier. I like it because the Char Koay Kak got "Wok Hei". It is a Chinese terminology of saying the temperature of the fire and the stirring style of the cook makes the food taste delicious.

Char Koay Kak Stall

Char Koay Kak - RM3.50 (Food Taste: Rating A)

We also tried Teng Chai Chuck (Teng Chai Porridge). I didn't really fancy this one. Although there are quite a lot of ingredient inside the porridge but it taste a bit bland to me. I think the porridge was not cooked long enough with the ingredients.

Teng Chai Chuk Stall

SRI PAANDI Banana Leaf Restaurant - PJ

Hei Indian food lovers! I have to introduce you to this Banana Leaf Restaurant. This restaurant came out in the newspaper for the controversial same restaurant name beside each other. To cut things short, it's a family matter.

The Sri Paandi that I went to is the end lot restaurant. You will see a lot of Indian waiter welcoming to the restaurant from far. They may be a bit aggressive but don't be afraid, they just want you to taste their good food.

Teh Susu Lembu "Fresh Cow Milk" is my favourite drink in this kind of restaurant. It's not the normal fresh mild that you get from supermarket. You will taste the difference when you drink it. Some people may not like this drink because of it's unique taste but I Love it!!

Teh Susu Lembu - RM1.50

The Banana Leaf set comes with bottomless rice, vegetables and chutni. There is a choice of using hand or fork & spoon. I like to use hand because it give you the extra taste...haha. You can order additional side dish like mutton, fish, squid, chicken and etc....a lot of varieties and it will make you very full after you finished. So make sure you come in with empty stomach.

Banana Leaf Set - RM4.00

The Thosai is good. It's soft and hot. They make it on the spot when you order. It's not too sour or plain. The Thosai comes with 3 types of dips and you can pick your favourite dips or take them all.

Thosai - RM1.00
In the Indian culture of telling whether the food is nice or not is through the way a person fold the banana leaf. If you fold the bottom half of the leaf away from you, it means that the food is not nice. If you fold the top half of the leaf toward you then it means the food is good and you will come again. However, not many follow this custom anymore.
Top of banana leaf fold towards you

Everytime when I come to this type of restaurant, I'll tend to over eat. Also if you use hand to eat, the smell will be on your fingers for about 2-3 days.
